Birmingham Caterers
Birmingham Caterers - In this day and age, the quality of the food out
children are eating is under constant surveillance. If a government
health watch isn't keeping track of what schools are serving, you can
bet that parents and the seemingly omnipresent Jamie Oliver will ensure
that people hear about the poor quality of the catering offered in
schools.
This means it is important, now more than ever before, to offer catering
choices to children that extend beyond the old standards of chips,
chips and more chips. Parents want their children to eat a more healthy,
varied and balanced diet when they are at school. Thus they expect the
schools to each ensure a higher standard than has ever been sought
before when it comes to school dinners.
This, of course, creates a problem. Kids often love junk food and, given
the opportunity, it will be their food of choice. It's the reason why
so many schools, for so many years, simply served up food that tasted OK
but was terrible on a nutritional level for growing children. Weaning
kids away from this sort of food has been a difficult task, and the
challenge facing companies that look to provide catering services to
schools these days is to make the healthier option seem much more
glamorous than it used to.
Thus caterers need to make the foods that were consigned to the back of
the list the main option of children. However it can't all be down to
simply the catering services. A successful diet is dependent both on the
food provided and the teaching of the child about which of these foods
is best for them on a nutritional level. Thus to ensure a healthy diet,
schoolchildren need to be taught why it is better for them to eat a
piece of fruit over a piece of chocolate. This is where the parents must
step up and take some responsibility.
Of course, caterers do their part as well. Making nutritional lunch
options attractive is the main aim of the game so it is best for a
caterer to develop something a little bit different. A sandwich is all
well and good, but it is all so ordinary, thus caterers need to ensure
something a little bit different to lure children away from the
temptations of the junk foods that have pervaded through the school
system for so long.
However, the crux of the matter is we can't place all of the
responsibility on any one individual or entity. Schools need to ensure
that they do their research and find good catering options. Caterers
need to ensure that they are ready and able to provide those options,
while also offering a varied menu that can keep children interested.
Finally parents need to instil in their kids from an early age that
eating healthily will be good for them in the long run, else all the
rest will be for nought.
